  1. My favorite part of Sonny’s Blues is the end when Sonny is playing on stage and his brother is explaining how it felt as Sonny was playing. I like this part because the word choice he was using to explain it felt like that ?oomph? It felt real and raw like I was watching my own sibling play on stage. Plus he explained how it made him feel after with him tearing up thinking about his “little girl”. This supports Baldwin’s critique of society by having the music be the positive outlet Sonny never had before during his drug use. It goes to show how having a proper outlet like music, can change your life the way it did with Sonnys and his brother
  2. For my s/r essay I think my biggest problem was my thesis. I also think I might’ve stayed a bit from the original point of the essay but I think the best part would have been the paragraph pertaining to the yellow wallpaper. I don’t think the paragraph for Freud was as good as it could have been. But midway through the assignment I wanted to switch which question I was answering, but I didn’t. So maybe if I switched questions it could have been better but who knows. Anyway I think overall I did pretty average in terms of the essay as a whole. Analyzing it was a bit hard because I have a bad habit of just restating the quote in my own words rather than explaining what it means or how it relates to my thesis. So I definitely have to work a bit on that and also my thesis. I did it last because I didn’t really know how to word it but I tried my best given the circumstances.
